Have I Told You Lately...

This is a bit of a play on words card (for CASology) and I don't mind admitting it was a nightmare to get it right, in fact my husband had a hand in the sentiment as he's a music nut and came to my rescue with a Van Morrison/Rod Stewart song.

The sentiment is computer generated with an obvious correction of the word 'you' and printed in light grey.  I then hand drew the heart on a folded piece of copier paper and positioned it central, then placed the sheep stamp in the middle and removed the stencil.  Stamped and coloured the image using Inktense pencils and created a mask to pop back on.  I then placed the stencil back in place and blended pink ink very minimal, but stronger round the edges for definition.  Then I added white, red and black paint splatters with the addition of three musical notes.

To make the card look like its been matted, I added a grey border with a Sharpie pen and considered it finished

Magical Valentine

As January seems to be speeding along rather rapidly into February, I decided to get a head start with Valentines Day and made this little cutie...

I used MFT Magical Dragons and I'd already made up my mind to limit the colour scheme to black, red and white.

I made my own background by sploshing, spritzing and splatters of red, black and white Gansai Tambi on watercolour card, once dry I cut it out using a stitched rectangle die.

The dragon was coloured in using Derwent Inktense pencils, as I like the mottled look you get and it suits him.  He was then fussy cut out and stuck down with 3D foam as was the sentiment after white embossing onto a scrap of black cardstock.

I added a row of five uneven kisses underneath the sentiment in bright red thread and popped on two love heart brads to compliment the inside which reads 'Two hearts, one love' and considered it finished.

Beary Special Day

For todays card I've used a set called Birthday Bears from My Favourite Things.

After starting, I suddenly realised I'm a bit shy on brown pens so I wasn't able to do any form of shading.  I coloured him using just two very similar shades but he looked boring so I added a bit of bleach to make him look a bit textured - not impressed but hey, you gotta try new things haven't you?

After that I masked him and the balloon and just blended some blue around.  The sentiment is also from the set, added some glossy accents to his balloon and a few pearls to finish off - voila.

Oh, For....!

My adorable fox is back but he's got a bit lippy this time with some of the naughtier sentiments from the set, which is another reason why I wanted these stamps (overt your eyes if you're of a delicate nature lol)

This card is for my stepdad who celebrates his birthday later this month, and thankfully we're all blessed with a sense of humour.

I stencilled the cloud background and machine stitched a border.  The fox is stamped with Stazon and coloured with Zigs.  I fussy cut him out this time, placed him on the card so I could stamp the naughty sentiment either side of him so it makes sense.  I adhered him with 3D foam for lift and finished off with a couple of pearls to match the balloons.  Inside it does say 'Happy Birthday' but I know my stepdad will appreciate the humour on the front of the card.

Here's hoping the challenge blog owners have a sense of fun and I'll get away with entering my card after all it was My Sentiments Exactly that designed the wording, not me - I wouldn't cos I'm too innocent - HaHa as if!

As this card is a little naughty and for a birthday, I thought I'd pop along to Naughty or Nice Challenge.

Feathers

Two cards today and these are for a new challenge from Darnell of djkardkreations called Twofer Card Challenge.  The idea is to use the same stamp/die on two cards for two separate occasions and for the first challenge the prompt is - feathers.

I've been thinking graduation recently as my son and his girlfriend both graduate this Summer and I thought feathers might be appropriate as they've both flown the home nest and have learnt to fly on their own.  All I did was die cut the feathers, sentiment and added a strip of black cardstock.  Included some paint splatters, added a gold seal with the word 'Love' and coloured a few gems black and done.

My second card took a little more thought, I was initially stumped until I looked at the pile of feathers that I'd been shuffling on the table while preoccupied with something on tv - then it struck me... make a pinwheel of feathers, watercoloured.  Die cut the 'thanks' three times and arranged the feathers, not quite central and it had to be on an 8x8 card as it looked too cluttered on anything smaller, there we have it - two cards done in one day, a first for me!

Supplies: Unbranded feather die and sentiments, 7 Gypsies seal kit, Zig watercolour pens, Inktense pencils and Hobby Craft pearl/clear gems.

The Fox Says...

Since last Summer, I've been trying to get hold of this stamp set from MSE - why?  That's easy, the little fox is just so darn adorable its hard to resist such a cutie pie.  So imagine my surprise on Christmas morning to find this little gem hidden under the tree :)

Once again I decided to follow the sketch from Fusion, I'm actually getting quite good at not wandering of track.  I started by embossing three stitched circle dies leaving enough space for him (yes hes a he) to be stamped in the middle.  I coloured him with Zigs and had an oops moment with the balloons.  I have a love/hate relationship with my Zigs, the love part is when everything goes according to plan like the fox - the hate bit is what happened on the balloons, and the ink bled and made the cardstock all bitty, urgh!

To save me from starting all over again, I decided to colour them again on a scrap of watercolour card and paper piece back in, voila.  I stitched the border in a balloon stringy kind of way, stamped the sentiment in Versamark onto some salvaged black cardstock and embossed with white, cut out using my eye - hence wonky fishtails and adhered with 3D foam tape so it was raised above the stitching.

This little fella will definitely making more appearances throughout the year - I have some cunning plans for him ;)

Smile

Happy New Year folks, lets hope its a wonderful 2018 for one and all.

I decided to start the crafting year off with a ray of sunshine and a happy rainbow.  It was super easy to create, the only time consuming part was finding the right coloured card in my off-cuts box while reciting 'Richard of York gave battle in vain' to remind myself of the colours I was searching for!

Everything has been die cut out and arranged onto the card base.  The 'smile' die was cut out three times to give it more dimension and the clear gems were coloured with a light blue Sharpie just to give the impression of a lil rain.  The rainbow, sunshine and 'smile' dies are all brand new.
